Survival Story

DALI Lab

Redefining harm reduction education with immersive storytelling and engaging visuals.

Background

The United States saw 112,000 opioid-related overdose deaths between May 2022 and May 2023 (CDC), with the Upper Valley of New Hampshire and Vermont mirroring this alarming trend. This project is a collaboration between Dartmouth’s DALI Lab and COSC 25.02, designed to address this crisis through innovative harm reduction education.

Problem Overview

Healthcare professionals lack accessible, engaging tools to build empathy and gain practical harm reduction training, leaving them underprepared to respond effectively to the opioid crisis.

How might we create a platform that empowers healthcare professionals with both practical skills and emotional understanding to address the opioid crisis?

My role

Title: Student @ Dartmouth College, COSC 25.02

Over the course of 10 weeks, I conducted in-depth industry research and user interviews, developed journey maps, and progressed from initial sketches to low-fidelity wireframes, incorporating ongoing feedback to create a high-fidelity prototype for this project. Moving forward, I plan to refine the platform further by expanding features to enhance user engagement and interactivity.
