Catharsis

COSC 25.01 - Intro to UI/UX

An app designed to foster meaningful conversations, improve communication skills, and ensure every voice is heard and understood.

Background

Intergenerational communication gaps often lead to misunderstanding, and alienation between older and younger generations. Many young adults and teens don't often start conversations for fear of being misunderstood or rejected. To overcome this, we designed a prototype in three weeks that serves to bridge the gap between two generations.

Problem Overview

The app connects users across generations for meaningful conversations while offering guided tone adjustments and topic selection to facilitate deeper discussions. It has received positive feedback for its ability to enhance understanding, and future updates will strengthen user input and interactivity features.

How might we foster deeper connections between younger and older people that builds empathy and understanding for each other?

My role

Title: Student @ Dartmouth College, COSC 25.01

In a rapid 3-week sprint, I conducted thorough industry research and user interviews, crafted journey maps, and iterated from initial sketches to low-fidelity wireframes, gathering continuous user feedback that informed the development of a high-fidelity prototype for Catharsis. Moving forward, I'll explore expanding the app's features to enhance user choice and interaction.
